Loan PeriodThe loan period is for three weeks. Two loan extensions (renewals) of three weeks are allowed unless an item is reserved for another member. Requests for loan extensions can be made by telephone or in person at any branch library. Members can also renew their loans online by logging into their My Account page via the Member Login page.
Loan LimitYou can borrow a combined total of the following:
10 books or magazines or talking books + 4 music CDs + 2 videos + 4 DVDs + 1 CD-ROM + 1 Toy or game.
Overdues and Lost/Damaged ItemsOnce an item is overdue, a notice is sent to you as a reminder. Returning or renewing your loans at this time will save you and the library a lot of bother later. Once an item is four weeks overdue an invoice is sent for the replacement cost of the loans plus a $5.00 overdue fine and your borrowing rights are suspended. If the items are returned in good condition at this point then only the $5.00 fine is payable. Ignoring this invoice may result in further fees being raised by a debt collection agency. If you have lost or damaged an item please notify library staff immediately so that minimum charges can be applied. Please remember to NEVER attempt any repair work yourself.
Library CardsA current membership card must be produced in order to borrow material from the Library. The borrower named on the membership card is responsible for losses and/or damage to library material borrowed on that card. A $2.00 fee is charged for the replacement of any membership card which has been lost.
Responsibilities of UsersResponsibility for losses or damage incurred by members under sixteen years of age is assumed by the parent or guardian. This acceptance of responsibility is indicated by the parent's or guardian's signed declaration in the membership register. Parents (or guardians) are responsible for the supervision of their children's reading matter and Internet access. Users are advised to read and abide by the Library Service Charter and Public Access Internet Policy.
